    • A battery separator for use in flooded cell type lead acid batteries comprising a backweb of a porous, acid resistant, embossable material with a plurality of major ribs and submini-ribs extending from at least one planar surface of the backweb. The ribs are located across the width of the backweb and extend in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal edges of the backweb. Each major rib overlies at least one submini-rib and is an embossed corrugated structure comprised of alternating ridges and furrows. The ridges and furrows are in non-parallel alignment to the longitudinal dimension of the separator, and preferably perpendicular thereto. The major ribs are formed on a battery separator backweb having a plurality of submini-ribs extending from at least one planar surface thereof by passing the backweb through the nip formed by a pair of opposed embossing rollers and embossing the backweb in the area of at least one submini-rib.

    • PURPOSE:To improve productivity without rupturing a member to be molded, by a method wherein the member to be molded which has been obtained by putting resin, with which an inorganic fiber base has been impregnated, into a semi-cured state prior to a wave form molding process is molded every wave form by a pair of molding rolls. CONSTITUTION:Impregnating resin 15 is applied to a glass cloth base 12 and the glass cloth base 12 is sent into a molding machine 18. Then ultraviolet rays are directed to both the top and bottom of the glass cloth base 12 and the impregnating resin 15 of the surface part is put into a semi-cured state.Then a member 24 to be molded is constituted by applying heat resisting polyamide nonwoven fabrics 21A, 21B which are insulation materials to both the top and bottom of the glass cloth base 12. The member 24 to be molded is inserted into a narrow gap between an upper and lower molding rollers 26A, 26B. The member 24 to be molded in moved in the direction of an arrow C by a rotation of the upper and lower molding rollers 26A, 26B in the direction of arrows (a), (b). In this instance, the member 24 to be molded is molded easily into a wave form by pressing force of uneven parts 26C of meshing surfaces of the upper and lower molding rollers 26A, 26B and heating by hot air.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the title novel biaxially oriented corrugated board, by a method wherein an extruded resin is longitudinally oriented while being paid out at a speed faster than an extrusion speed and, after the oriented resin sheet is cut in a definite dimension, said sheet is placed on a corrugated mold frame in such a state that the four end parts thereof are pinched and oriented to a traverse direction while corrugation is imparted under heating, cooled and demolded. CONSTITUTION:A sheet a1 comprising a polyethylene terephthalate resin or a modified resin thereof is extruded from an extruder 1 and longitudinally oriented to an extruding direction while received at a speed faster than an extruding speed by a roll 12. In the next step, the oriented resin sheet is successively cut in a definite dimenstion and stocked while the cut longitudinally oriented sheet having a definite dimension is placed on a corrugated mold frame 2 in such a state the four end parts thereof are grasped by a clamp 22 and the longitudinally orienting direction crosses the corrugation advancing direction of the mold frame 2 at right angles. Subsequently, said sheet is allowed to reach the corrugated molding surface 21 of the mold frame 2 while heated to a softening degree by a heater and oriented to a traverse direction while corrugation is imparted thereto and, thereafter, cooled and demolded to obtain an objective corrugated board P.
