    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a desired phase difference by reflection coating in a beam splitter provided with the reflection coating which considers not total reflection but both of laser beams to be reflected and that to be transmitted therethrough.
      SOLUTION: When the laser beam is made incident while a linear polarization direction of the laser beam is set at a rotation angle of 45° with respect to a tilting direction of a reflective surface, the desired phase difference cannot be generated by the reflection coating. Then, in an optical pickup device, after the laser beam emitted from a laser light source 1 is reflected by the reflection coating 8 of the beam splitter 7, the laser beam is guided to the objective lens 13 to irradiate an optical recording medium therewith. The linear polarization direction of the laser beam made incident onto the reflection coating 8 of the beam splitter 7 is set so that P polarization is larger than S polarization.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-optical pickup capable of effectively increasing the reading speed of the optical pickup. SOLUTION: A dynamic micro-machined optical device is applied in a micro-optical pickup. The micro-optical pickup includes an actuator and a dynamic grating, wherein the actuator is a cantilever beam electrostatic actuator, a scratch drive actuator, a magnetic actuator or an electromagnetic actuator, and the actuator is controlled by applying an external voltage. The position of the dynamic grating is switchable between on and off the optical axis. When the external voltage is applied, the on-axis dynamic grating splits the light from a laser diode into multi-beams and the micro-optical pickup rapidly reads multi-track information on the disk with multi low energy beams. When the external voltage is turned off, the dynamic grating is off the optical axis and the light from the laser diode passes directly and write information into the disk with single high energy beam.
