    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of ensuring an appropriate operation even when there is a malfunction in a suspension that has a damper using a magnetorheological fluid.SOLUTION: In the washing machine according to an embodiment, the suspension has a damper comprising: a shaft that reciprocates within a tubular cylinder according to the vibration of a water tub; a coil that is held within the cylinder and generates a magnetic field by being energized; and a magnetorheological fluid that is placed within the cylinder and changes in viscosity due to the magnetic field generated by the coil. The viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid acts to resist the reciprocation of the shaft. Control means determines whether or not the current flowing through the coil is within the preset range of current value based on the detection result of current detection means. If the current value exceeds the upper limit of the range of current value, the control means at least stops the energization of the coil. If the current value is below the lower limit of the range of current value, the control means continues the washing operation.

The control means uses the tub temperature detection means to detect, as a current detected temperature, the temperature of the tub immediately after the start of the current operation course, and detect, as a previous detected temperature, the temperature of the tub in a state unaffected by heat from warm air before the execution of the current operation course. Then, the control means determines whether or not the current detected temperature is affected by the heat from the warm air of the previous operation course, selects the current detected temperature as the detected temperature data when determining that the current detected temperature is not affected by the heat, and selects the previous detected temperature as the detected temperature data when determining that the current detected temperature is affected by the heat.
