The air bag 14 is rapidly developed to assist its inflation. The end part in the development advancing direction of the developed and inflated air bag is supported by a wire 20 pulled in the pulling device 18, and the developed condition of the air bag 14 is appropriately kept.

SOLUTION: A plurality of guide grooves 60 are formed at a bottom part 56 of a fit-in part 52 of a pad cover body 42, and both longitudinal ends of these guide grooves 60 are communicated with air holes 58, 62 communicating the bottom part 56 with the back face side of the pad cover body 42. When an ornamental plate 54 is fitted into the fit-in part 52 and pressed to the bottom part 56 side, air between the bottom part 56 and an adhesive part 70 of the ornamental plate 54 moves and reaches the guide grooves 60 so as to pass through to the back face side of the pad cover body 42 through the vents 58, 62. The ornamental plate 54 is therefore stuck positively to the bottom part 56.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protecting device which is compact and of easy assemblage. SOLUTION: A long bag body 12 is placed inside a door inner panel 16 at an upper part of it to be disposed with the length direction of the bag body 12 set along the vehicle axial direction. Normally, it is in a stored and contracted condition in the vehicle axial direction at an upper end part of the panel 16. At the time of collision, the bag body 12 is inflated and developed in a roughly cylindrical form, an upper part 10A of a door trim 10 moves toward an occupant chest part, a gap is secured between the door trim 10 and the door inner panel 16, and motion energy of the occupant chest part is absored by the bag body 12. Absorption of motion energy of the occupant chest part can thus be sufficiently achieved by a compact device without increasing the volume of the bag body 12. The bag body 12, folded, needs to be disposed at the upper part of the door inner panel 16 only, thereby assemblage of a door in storing the bag body 12 is facilitated.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb sufficiently the kinetic energy of the head of an occupant using a small-sized device without enlarging the capacity of a sack. SOLUTION: A sack 10 as a support for the head of an occupant when it is inflated and spread is installed along a roof side as stretching in the direction fore and aft of a vehicle. A strap 42 is installed in the vertical direction of the vehicle on the roof side of the center pillar 16 and on the indoor side of the sack 10. The sack 10 is normally in the contracted condition in accommodation alongside the roof side. At lateral collision, this sack 10 is inflated and spread and absorbs the kinetic energy of the occupant head in the transverse direction across the vehicle. On the way of inflating and spreading, a swing force is applied to the sack 10, but it is settled quickly by the strap 42. That is, the sack 10 can be spread in the position corresponding to the occupant head quickly and properly as the strap 42 prevents the sack 10 from swinging. Accordingly the occupant head can be supported properly even if the sack 10 is of small size.
