    • PURPOSE: To reduce the transverse bending deformation produced during cutting and perform titled cutting surely by longitudinally cutting an ingot with bulges on the both side parts by means of a pair of cutting rolls while moving the same and applying screw-down on the both side parts.
      CONSTITUTION: Both side parts of a slab 4 are formed with edgers or the like to form bulges 4a. Next, the slab 4 with said bulges 4a is screwed down at its central part during moving by the V-shaped cutting blades 3a of a pair of cutting rolls 3 until the spacing δ of both rolls 3 is made to a prescribed spacing, whereby it is longitudinally cut. At this time, both the side parts of the slab 4 are slightly screwed down by the bulged parts 3b of the rolls 3, and therefore inwardly bending cambers are generated in the screwed down parts of the slab 4. Hence, these cambers and the outward bending cambers generated at the cutting with the blades 3a are approximately offset, and the cambers of the cut slab are reduced.
