    • PURPOSE:To flat and uniformize a sheet shape over the total length in the longitudinal direction of a sheet stock by controlling a position of an intermediate roll in front of and behind a condition changing point in skin pass rolling for the sheet stock by an intermediate roll shifting type 6-high skin pass rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:When a steel strip 10 is transferred in the A direction and a changing point of skin pass rolling conditions passes through a 6-high skin pass rolling mill, a detector 24 previously detects the changing point together with a sheet width and a position computing element 26 momently recognizes a position of the point based on outputs from the detector 24. A preset computing element 30 previously set a shift start point of both intermediate rolls 16A, 16B based on a necessary period of time for shifting the rolls 16A, 16B, that is, considering a speed of the strip 10 and a distance to the mill. A region where a position of rolls 16 and bending forces are controlled is set in front of and behind the changing point to prepare a prescribed distance or time; at the time that the point reaches the region, the rolls 16A, 16B are concurrently started to shift. Positions of the rolls 16 are detected, a shape influence coefficient is calculated based on a rolling load for the strip 10, and a bending force is controlled in accordance with a necessary shape correction amount for the strip 10.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of bad appearance and shape defects in spite of response delay and variance in required time for position changing of intermediate rolls by controlling a position of intemediate rolls of a 6-high skin pass rolling mill by detecting a sheet width changing point in accordance with a size of rear side sheet width. CONSTITUTION:A welding point position computing element 22 previously sets timing to change a position of intermediate rolls 14A, 14B and to change rolling conditions such as setting of a rolling pressure. At the time of detecting a welding point of a steel sheet 10A by a detector 20, if a rear side sheet width is narrow, a shift of the rolls 14A, 14B is started at a point within a given distance from a point right under a rolling mill in the downstream side, if a rear side sheet width is large, a shift of the rolls 14A, 14B is completed by that point. And that, a position of the rolls 14A, 14B presetted by a preset computing element 30, a roll bending amount, and a drafting position are set to a prescribed value with the timing decided in the above description to prevent variations in shapes of the sheet 10A.

    • PURPOSE:To uniformize the wear of work rolls and to also uniformize the surface roughness of a steel strip by skin pass rolling a preceding steel strip with the strip moved in the width direction by at least a moving amount being equal to a width difference between the preceding and succeeding strips at the case that the succeeding strip is wider than the preceding strip. CONSTITUTION:At the time of skin pass rolling of steel strips whose width are different, respective moving amounts of respective strips in the width direction are calculated based on a passage schedule of the strips. Then, in passage, a preset computer 6 calculates momentary moving target values based on length measuring pulse signals of a pulse generator 9 and inputs calculated values to a steering controller 5C. The controller 5C actuates a steering device 5A based on signals of a strip position detector 5B so that a steel strip 10 has a moving target value at the outlet side of the steering device 5A. The strip 10 is moved by an amount larger than a width difference in the width direction and is subjected to skin pass rolling. Hence, wear in the width direction of work rolls 1A, 1B is uniformized.

This set value is preset at the changing time of the steel kind and dimension of the stock to be rolled.
