    • PURPOSE:To prevent lowering in purity of fresh water and unstable running of brine by throttling a steam throttling member set to a steam pass leading to a condensation tray to reduce steam flow rate in the pass when bottom temp. lowers as the temp. of seawater lowers and it becomes difficult to maintain the designed desalination performance. CONSTITUTION:Brine flowing into evaporator 1 is flash evaporated in the flash box consisting of weir 7 and splash plate 6. Steam produced by the evaporation is splash separated in demister 4, condensed with a bundle of heat exchange tubes 5 through steam pass 3, and fed to fresh water tray 2 as fresh water. When the temp. of a heat medium (seawater) flowing through tubes 5 lowers as the temp. of seawater lowers, steam throttling member 8 is throttled to raise the resistance of pass 3. Accordingly, the amt. of steam flowing through pass 3 is reduced to maintain the desigen desalination performance.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of a fluid in the interior even if a balance valve is damaged by providing a nonreturn valve in a passage between a balance valve and a fluid discharge port of a sluice valve. CONSTITUTION:If a grand packing 17 of a balance valve 8 is damaged, both valves 8, 8a are fully closed. Thus, the valve 8 is first fully closed to prevent leakage from the sluice valve body 1 side. The valve 8a is closed so that a discharge port 5 and a by-pass 7b are completely closed by a stem 15a to prevent nonreturn of vapor from the discharge port 5 side. If a grand packing 7a of the valve 8a is damaged, both valves 8, 8b may be fully closed to prevent leakage of vapor from the damaged grand packing 7a.

    • PURPOSE:To make the inside of the water producing device reach quickly the necessary degree of vacuum and thus to shorten the starting time of the air bleeding device, by connecting via the air bleeding tube the starting ejector and the 1st-step capacitor of the air bleeding device which functions to maintain the inside of the water producing device under the state of vacuum. CONSTITUTION:The air bleeding tube 1 is provided to secure a connection between the 1st-step capacitor 5 and the starting ejector 2. The ejector 2 operates first to maintain the inside of the water producing device 1 at a certain degree of vacuum, and then the 1st-step ejector 3 operates. In this case, the degree of vacuum within the capacitor 5 is nearly identical to that at the entrance of the ejector 2. Accordingly, no reverse current is caused in the ejector 2, and thus the working of the ejector 2 can be continued until the inside of the device 1 reaches the necessary degree of vacuum.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a flash evaporator to maintain its designed evaporation capacity by providing a plurality of passes for a cooling medium in a waste heat section and closing part of the passes to reduce the heat transfer area of the passes when the temp. of the medium lowers. CONSTITUTION:When the temp. of seawater as a cooling medium is around the designed value, sluice valves 21 set to passes 6B, 6C are full opened and seawater is fed to all of passes 6A, 6B, 6C. In case the temp. of seawater lowers somewhat, one of valves 21, e.g. valve 21 of pass 6C is full opened and the delivery vol. of cooling medium supply pump 4 is regulated to reduce seawater flow rate. As a result, the cooling capacity of the whole passes is reduced to maintain seawater flow rate in passes 6A, 6B and the bottom temp. of waste heat section 2 to ranges with no lowering in desalination performance without circulating seawater. Accordingly, no cooling medium circulating pump is required, and a flash evaporator can be provided which maintains stable evaporation capacity without being affected by lowering in temp. of a cooling medium.
