    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and apparatus for achieving an optimum operating state of a cross cutting device by suppressing variation due to various factors of a rotating drum of the cross cutting device, and by accurately measuring the amount of variation, and by recognizing the correlation between the runout and cut end of a knife blade. SOLUTION: A difference between waveforms during unloading and waveforms during sheet cutting, namely, during loading is calculated. Components during the cutting, namely, during loading of the rotating drum are extracted from the difference between the two. The calculation of the difference is carried out by using elements, such as a CPU, an amplifier, an A/D converter, and memory, incorporated into a control device.
