    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause select return force to act with a simple structure by simplifying a structure.SOLUTION: A manual transmission includes: a shift lever 1 which allows a driver to perform shift operation at one end thereof; a large sphere part 21 which is formed at the other end of the shift lever 1 and forms a sphere part in its outer circumference; and a retainer in which a bearing part 31 is formed for supporting the large sphere part 21 so as to be freely turned. The manual transmission further includes: a torsion spring 4 which is arranged at one side of the retainer and includes a middle part wound in a coil form and locked to the retainer, a first leg part projected from one end of the middle part so as to be extended in an axial direction, and a second leg part projected from the other end of the middle part; and an engaging part 22 which is unitedly projected and formed radially from an outer circumference sphere part of the large sphere part 21. When the shift lever 1 is moved from a neutral position to a select position, either the first leg part or the second leg part is engaged with and pressed by the engaging part, and torsional stress acts on the first or the second leg part.
