摘要： A distributed communications switching system and its associated telecommunications network infrastructure (10) includes a plurality of interconnected switching systems (12 1 ,12 2 and 12 3 ), some of which may be controlled by another switching system and its associated telecommunications network infrastructure. The switching systems are controlled via at least one switch processing platform (16) that generates generic commands for receipt by the switching systems in response to signaling messages received by the SPP. A fabric application interface (19) couples the switching systems to the switch processing platform for distributing generic commands to and from the appropriate switching system and for translating the generic commands into native commands (or vice versa) for execution by the switching system. The fabric application interface also translates signals received at the switching system into generic commands for receipt by the switch processing platform.

摘要： A method of operating a programmable telecommunication switch comprising controllable-switching means for dynamically connecting or disconnecting communication paths between various ones of a plurality of ports or channels in response to messages generated by a host device, the method comprising the steps of defining one or more protocols associated with the processing of incoming or outgoing calls, wherein each of the one or more call-associated protocols is represented by a finite state machine and configured to perform even processing, and further wherein different ones of the one or more protocols may be assigned to different ports or channels, detecting the occurrence of an event at one of the plurality of ports or channels, dynamically selecting one of the one or more call associated protocols for processing the occurring event, and performing the selected protocol to process the occurring event.

摘要： A telecommunications system includes at least one central office having an electronic supervisor (32) for supervising a plurality of outside plant electronic cross-connect cabinets (30a) and a plurality of electronic cross-connect cabinets located remotely from the central office for automatically connecting and disconnecting distribution pairs to feeder pairs terminated at the cabinets. Each cabinet is connected to the electronic supervisor via a control pair (26a, b) in a feeder cable (32a) extending from the central office to the cabinet. The electronic supervisor at the central office automatically locates, verifies the identity of, and supervises automatic switching operations at a selected one of the plurality of electronic cross-connect cabinets by providing operating power and signalling information to the selected one via the control cable to which it is attached. Details of the electronic cross-connect cabinet independently form an aspect of the present invention.
