    • According to an example embodiment, an apparatus (101) for communication with another apparatus (102-k) over a packet-switched network (103) is provided, the apparatus (101) comprising a transport protocol portion is arranged to cause the apparatus (101) to carry out at least the following: transmit, to the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), user data in a sequence of data blocks having respective sequence numbers assigned thereto, receive, from the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), acknowledgements blocks acknowledging reception of at least some of said data blocks, retransmit, to the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), those ones of said data blocks that are not acknowledged by the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), enter a congestion avoidance state in response to a predefined amount of said data blocks not being acknowledged by the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), wherein the apparatus (101) comprises a complementary transport protocol portion arranged to: provide the transport protocol portion with information that indicates acknowledgement of all data blocks up to one having a first reference sequence number assigned thereto, and selectively cause the apparatus (101) to transmit, to the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n), a control block instructing the other apparatus (102-k, 102-m, 102-n) to ignore any unreceived data blocks having assigned thereto a sequence number that is smaller than a second reference sequence number.

    • Embodiments of this application disclose a forwarding information obtaining method. An egress queue is congested because of a microburst. Therefore, a first device may obtain, when a first queue is congested, a service parameter identifier of a first packet buffered in the first queue. The first queue is an egress queue in the first device. The service parameter identifier of the first packet is used to indicate a parameter used to forward the first packet. The parameter used to forward the first packet may be used to indicate a service flow to which the first packet belongs. By using the service parameter identifier of the first packet, the first device may determine the service flow to which the first packet belongs, in other words, determine a service flow affected by the congestion of the first queue. The first device may further perform a first operation based on the service parameter identifier of the first packet. By using the method, when the first queue is congested, the first device may determine a service affected by the congestion, and perform the first operation to relieve effect exerted by the congestion of the first queue on the service flow to which the first packet belongs.
