摘要： A method for fabricating microcavity discharge devices and arrays of devices. The devices are fabricated by layering a dielectric (1020, 220) on a first conducting layer or substrate (210, 1010). A second conducting layer or structure is overlaid on the dielectric layer. In some devices, a microcavity (1040, 212) is created that penetrates the second conducting layer or structure and the dielectric layer. In other devices, the microcavity penetrates to the first conducting layer. The second conducting layer or structure together with the inside face of the microcavity is overlaid with a second dielectric layer. The microcavities are then filled with a discharge gas. When a time- varying potential of the appropriate magnitude is applied between the conductors, a microplasma discharge is generated in the microcavity. These devices can exhibit extended lifetimes since the conductors are encapsulated, shielding the conductors from degradation due to exposure to the plasma. Some of the devices are flexible and the dielectric can be chosen to act as a mirror.

摘要： This invention is essentially a device applied to a functioning lamp or fluorescent tube being constructed with an external structure (A) of rigid, transparent, inorganic, and dielectric material, semi-rigid caps (B), a dielectric flexible sheet (C), and a non-conducting metallic surface reflector (D), creates an electric field, or ionized cavity (E), around the lamp or tube and thus impedes the additional energy dispersion that such lamps or fluorescent tubes normally discharge and lose in the form of ultraviolet radiation. From this follows a greater efficiency in the conversion of ultraviolet radiation into visible light, thus making this device an important tool for the saving of energy.

摘要： A high-pressure gas discharge (HID, high intensity discharge) lamp is described, having a discharge vessel (1) that contains a metal that is applied at least to parts of those regions of the feedthroughs and/or walls of the discharge vessel (1) at which condensation of ingredients of the gas filling may occur as a result of a temperature sink that occurs when the lamp is in a state of operation. In this way, it is possible to at least largely prevent not only chemical interactions between ingredients of the gas filling (particularly the metal halides) and the relevant regions of the feedthroughs or walls at which, due to the lower temperature of these regions, the ingredients condense, but also losses of ingredients of this kind from the gas filling. This in turn means that there is no risk of any damage to the lamp or of any degradation of its lumen maintenance.
