摘要： An integrated journal bearing (IJB) is disclosed that comprises a shaft extending in an axial direction; a housing through which the shaft extends in the axial direction, the housing surrounding the shaft in a radial direction; an active magnetic bearing (AMB) arranged within the housing and surrounding the shaft in the radial direction; at least a first fluid film journal bearing (JB) arranged within the housing and surrounding the shaft in the radial direction, the first JB being axially adjacent to the AMB such that first JB and the AMB do not share a common radial clearance; and a controller in signal communication with the AMB and configured to supply current thereto to operate the AMB by controlling a magnetic force generated thereby. Oil conduits are defined through the housing that are configured to feed and drain oil through both the AMB and first JB clearances.

摘要： There is provided an electric machine comprising a stator, a rotor configured to rotate relative to the stator, the stator having a phase arrangement. The phase arrangement includes a first leg and a second leg connected in parallel at a first primary junction and a second primary junction. The first leg includes a first-leg first coil and a first-leg second coil connected in series through a first intermediate junction, and the second leg includes a second-leg first coil and a second-leg second coil connected in series through a second intermediate junction. The first intermediate junction and the second intermediate junction are connected by a branch such that the phase arrangement is in the form of a bridge circuit. The phase arrangement is configured to permit an alignment current to flow between the first primary junction and the second primary junction via the branch, the alignment current being conducted through an alignment current path which passes through one coil of each leg. The phase arrangement includes a negative impedance converter configured to add a negative electrical impedance to the alignment current path by introducing additional electrical energy into the respective alignment current path. The electric machine is configured so that the alignment current causes a translational force to be applied to the rotor for maintaining alignment of the rotor with respect to the stator.

摘要： An electric stabiliser (1) for stabilising a floating structure is described. The electric stabiliser (1) includes a track (2) for guiding a mover (6) as a moving stabiliser mass. A direct current (DC) linear motor (8) includes a planar stator (10) that extends along the track (2) and the mover (6) that is adapted to move forwards and backwards along the track (2) as the stabiliser mass. The planar stator (10) includes a polyphase stator winding (16) with a plurality of winding coils (14) connected to define a plurality of phase windings. The mover (6) includes a plurality of permanent motor magnets (40) facing the polyphase stator winding (16) that define a plurality of mover poles of alternating polarity (i.e., north and south polarity) along the track direction. Two active magnetic bearings (44, 48) is positioned between the track and a main body (32) of the mover (6) for selectively levitating the mover. In use, the active magnetic bearings (44, 48) levitate the mover (6) above the track and the DC linear motor (8) is controlled to move the mover (6) backwards and forwards along the track (2) to dampen a rolling or pitching movement of the floating structure, for example.
