摘要： An edible-body marking device (1) has a carrier device (20) that carries an edible body, a detection part (210) that detects the edible body, and a laser processing part (220) that forms a marking pattern on the edible body by using laser light. The carrier device sequentially carries the edible body to the detection part (210) and the laser processing part (220). The detection part images (210) the edible body to acquire orientation information regarding an orientation of the edible body, and the laser processing part (220) has a memory part that stores in advance multiple pieces of marking procedure information regarding formation procedures of the marking pattern in association with their respectively different pieces of the orientation information, and forms the marking pattern on the edible body according to the marking procedure information extracted from the memory part based on the orientation information acquired by the detection part (210).

摘要： A method and apparatus to orient, position and spin print indicia on pellet shaped articles 12, such as pharmaceutical capsules and the like. More specifically, the method and apparatus 10 use a rotating pick-up drum 18 that receives and transports the pellet shaped articles 12 to a rotating positioning drum 20 that is synchronized with the pick-up drum 18. The positioning drum 20 receives the pellet shaped articles 12 from the pick-up drum 18 and properly aligns the pellet shaped articles 12 so that they may be transferred to a rotating printing drum 22 which is also synchronized with the positioning drum 20. The printing drum 22 contains a vacuum source 70 that maintains the pellet shaped articles 12 within pockets 42 as the pellet shaped articles 12 are passed through a printing station 24. The printing station 24 contains a movable printing roller 76 capable of being moved toward and away from the printing drum 22 such that the printing roller 76 accurately spin prints indicia onto the pellet shaped articles 12. A servo controller unit 26 is connected to the apparatus 10 and is configured to control, among other features of the apparatus 10, the rotation speed of the drums, but also the precise location of the printing roller 96 in relationship to the rotating printing drum 22.
