摘要： A container formed from a unitary paperboard blank having a substantially planar inner region, a sidewall region and a rim region formed about the periphery thereof is disclosed. The sidewall region includes a generally annular region flaring upwardly and outwardly from a periphery of the planar inner region and a first frusto-conical region adjoining the annular region with the frusto-conical region sloping outwardly and upwardly from the annular region. The rim region includes an outwardly flaring arcuate annular region adjoining an outer periphery of the first frusto-conical region, and a second frusto-conical region extending substantially tangentially from the arcuate annular region. The second frusto-conical region extends outwardly and downwardly at an angle of about 6 DEG to about 12 DEG and preferably about 6 DEG -10.5 DEG relative to the plane defined by the planar inner region. The rim of the container may further include an outwardly and downwardly flaring frusto-conical lip adjoining an outer periphery of the second frusto-conical region in order to aid in grasping of the paperboard container by the consumer. Additionally, a plurality of radially extending mutually spaced pleats are also formed in the rim region and are internally bonded with portions of the rim region during formation of the paperboard container by a die press. During the fabrication of the paperboard material for forming the aforementioned container, the paperboard material is impregnated with a sizing adhesive equivalent to at least 6 pounds of starch per 3,000 ft ream of paperboard material such that the tensile strength of the board is increased, and such that during the press forming of the paperboard containers between respective dies, the pleats adhere to respective portions of the pleats and rim, thereby maintaining the integrity of the pleats during use of the container by the consumer by resisting the opening of the pleats.

摘要： A product press formed from a paperboard and a method for forming the same is provided, wherein the product includes a press formed three-dimensional curvilinear region having a desired shape and containing a formation improvement structure for facilitating the press formation and maintenance of the desired product shape and for preventing the machine directionality of the paperboard from distorting the product from its desired shape. The press formed paperboard product of the preferred embodiment comprises a planar wall having a periphery which is at least partially curvilinear and a peripheral wall angularly oriented with respect to the planar wall. The peripheral wall extends along at least a portion of the curvilinear periphery of the planar wall and the closest portion of the peripheral wall is spaced a substantial radial distance from the periphery of the planar wall. The press formed three-dimensional curvilinear region extends radially outwardly from the curvilinear periphery of the planar wall while simultaneously curving out of the plane defined by the planar wall. The formation improvement structure includes a peripherally extending crush score line having a substantial directional component extending generally parallel to the curvilinear portion of the periphery of the planar wall. The crush score lines may be circular, sinusoidal or saw tooth shaped.

摘要： A canister container (12) holds stacked flexible dishes (30), nominally plates, in their normal upright orientation in position above a large, roughly circular, central bottom aperture to such canister. The plates are supported in this position within the canister by an inwardly-directed peripheral flange (16) extending approximately 230 degrees around the circumference of the bottom one of the stacked flexible plates. The stacked flexible plates are also supported by two, inwardly-directed peripheral tabs (17) which are situated about the bottom aperture of the canister at positions opposite to the flange. The canister also preferably has a second aperture (18) in its cylindrical sidewall between and above the location of the two tabs to the bottom aperture. Selected bottom ones of the stacked flexible plates may be slightly temporarily warped or deformed by manual force applied through the second aperture to pass beyond supporting engagement with the tabs. The flexible plates are then slid laterally from the canister through its bottom aperture until they no longer engage the flange. Storage and dispensing of flexible plates is thereby performed.
