摘要： A delay time between the start of a trace on an oscilloscope screen and a point along the trace is computed based on measured "sweep gain" and "sweep start" parameters characterizing a triggered sweep signal controlling the horizontal position of an electron beam creating the trace, the sweep signal increasing when triggered from a starting level at a constant slew rate to move the beam at a constant speed across the screen. The sweep start parameter is the value of input data applied to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) which would cause the DAC to produce an output voltage equal to the sweep signal starting level, and the sweep gain indicates the rate of increase in DAC input data required to produce a DAC output signal with a rate of increase similar to the slew rate of the sweep signal. The horizontal position of the point along the trace is the beam position on the screen at the moment the sweep signal magnitude reaches the magnitude of the DAC output signal. The delay time is computed as the difference between the DAC input data resulting in this DAC output signal magnitude and the sweep start parameter, the difference being divided by the sweep gain parameter.

摘要： A triggering system (1) is proposed which comproses a triggering device (4) to which a triggering input signal is supplied via parallel signal paths (6, 7, 8). One signal path (6) may be a direct connection, while the other signal paths (7, 8) comprise frequency division devices (10, 13). The signal paths (6, 7, 8) are respectively switched on under the control of frequency-dependent switching devices (16, 21) depending on a signal obtained from an input signal at an input (2) of the triggering system (1). The result is achieved that the triggering system (1) is able to operate well up to much higher frequencies than would be determined solely by the bandwidth of the triggering device (4).

摘要： A timebase generator includes a transistor switch performing a sweep gate function, alternately providing a current path for retrace and then disconnecting such current path to allow generation of a time base ramp. The bias current delivered to the switch is controlled to be at a high level for bringing about proper retrace, but at a low level at the beginning and ending of the time base sweep itself to prevent undesired transients and nonlinearity effects. The low current is maintained from the end of the retrace period until the start of the following retrace period. A baseline stabilizer loop comprises a transistor circuit for accurately predetermining the baseline reference wherein the emitter current of the transistor is controlled to a substantially constant value during operation for enhanced stability. The undesirable effect produced by inherent capacitance of a semiconductor device current source used for charging the timebase generator timing capacitor is neutralized by means of a matching semiconductor device interposed between the timebase generator output and an input electrode of the first mentioned semiconductor device.

System delays are built in to ensure that the displayed sweep trace also begins at the left edge of the viewing screen, and, moreover, the triggering event may be viewed on both the main and delayed sweeps. The built-in system delays may be programmable to facilitate delay matching of vertical channels or time matching of independent sweep operation.
