    • [Technical Problem]
      An object is to provide a manufacturing method which can efficiently obtain a composite metal halide at a relatively low temperature even without high temperature heating or the like.
      [Solution to Problem]
      The method of manufacturing a composite metal halide according to the present invention comprises a supply step of supplying ammonia into a container. The container accommodates a mixture powder or a molded body of the mixture powder. The mixture powder comprises two or more kinds of metal halide raw materials of which at least one of a metal element and a halogen element is different. Through this method, a complex metal halide is generated such that at least one of a plurality of kinds of metal elements and a plurality of kinds of halogen elements contained in the mixture powder are combined. The mixture powder may preferably have a particle size of 300 micrometers or less in an embodiment, or 250 micrometers or less in another embodiment, because such a particle size can facilitate the combining. It is preferred that the composite metal halide according to the present invention is used for a chemical heat storage material that becomes exothermic or endothermic by absorbing or releasing of ammonia.
