    • An inter-conveyed postal matter gap correction apparatus includes a postal matter supply means, a detecting means (45) for detecting the thickness or weight of the postal matter supplied from the postal matter supply means, a gap measuring sensor (47) for measuring a gap between the postal matter supplied from the postal matter supply means, a variable speed driving means (42) arranged on the downstream side of the detecting means and the gap measuring sensor for driving the postal matter supplied from the postal matter supply means at various speeds, a memory for storing a correction value for driving the postal matter at various speeds by the variable speed driving means on the basis of the thickness or weight of the postal matter detected by the detecting means, a preceding gap which is a gap between the present postal matter to be corrected which is measured by the gap measuring sensor (47) and the just prior preceding postal matter, and a succeeding gap which is a gap between the present postal matter to be corrected and the just after succeeding postal matter, and a setting means for setting a drive speed of the variable speed driving means (42) using the correction value stored in the memory.
