    • A metallic vacuum double-walled container is manufactured of an inner container (1) and an outer container (2) both formed from a metal. At least the outer container (2) possesses a body which is formed by rolling a steel plate with a Vickers hardness of between 250 and 600. The outer container (2) is then shaped into a cylindrical body, and joined to a processed inner container (1) at their mouth portions to form a metallic double-walled container. This metallic double-walled container is then heat treated at a temperature of 200 to 600⁰C under a vacuum, and the space between the two walls of the metallic double-walled container is vacuum sealed to form the final product.
      Increasing the work hardening of the steel plate and selecting annealing conditions which prevent softening of the steel allows to reduce the plate thickness and to provide a light weight double walled container of superior impact strength.
