摘要： The invention is a software reconfigurable cross point switch which selectively interconnects a plurality of phone lines and a plurality of shared resources such as call progress monitors, dual tone multifrequency (DTMF) receivers, DTMF automatic dialers and automatic answer tone detectors. The invention achieves its objective of enhanced switching efficiency and greater flexibility in the connectivity between diverse communications elements, by independently switching two separate switching planes of the cross point switch so as to enable different paths to be taken by the transmit portion and the receive portion of a particular telephone connection.
The cross point switch architecture invention flexibly allows for many applications, one in particular being conference summing. By providing a plurality of build-out resistors connected to the separate inputs of one plane of the cross point switch, and connecting the corresponding outputs from the cross point switch to a single input of the summing amplifier, a conference summing function can be performed.

摘要： Contemporary communication networks, telephone exchanges in particular, are usually equipped with a comprehensive central control. A result thereof is that they are very complex. The invention provides a communication network having a high degree of distributed control and processing by providing a binary switching element from which selector stages, selectors and selector systems are assembled, which are employed in the whole network. The binary switching element (10) comprises means (15) which connect an input (11) to both a zero-output (12) and a not-output (14) and means (15') connecting the input (11) to both a one-output (13) and the not-output (14). One of the outputs (12, 13, 14) is activated depending on the logic value of the binary input signal and the presetting of the means (15, 15'). An arbitrary large, flexible, -simple and reliable communication network can be assembled by arranging these binary switching elements in series and/or in parallel.

摘要： Contemporary communication networks, telephony exchanges in particular, are frequently provided with a central control. A consequence there of is that they are very complex. The invention provides a communication network having a high degree of distributed control and processing by providing a binary selector stage with which selectors and selector systems are assembled which are employed in the entire network. The selector stage comprises an identification circuit (10) for identifying destination addresses applied to input (12) and which are considered to be associated with the service area of the selector stage. An indicator circuit (11) determines in a list-of-free-outputs (32) to which free output the destination address, which is identified by (10) and transferred to a first output (16), must be conveyed.Non-identified destination addresses are transferred to a second output (14), to which output a further selector stage can be connected.

摘要： This invention substantially reduces the hardware complexity of an optical add-drop multiplexer, in an optical node, that can drop desired signals from input optical fibers or add desired signals to output optical fibers leading away from an optical cross-connect. This invention is provided with a plurality of 1*20s optical couplers (PC) and a plurality of transponder banks (TBK). The optical couplers (PC) are connected to some or all of s sets of input optical fibers (Fi1 through Fi(n-2)), said sets being connected, respectively, to a plurality of optical cross-connect units (OXC1 through OXCs). Each of the transponder banks (TBK) has a set of s* 1 optical switches (PS), each of which receives, and selects one of, signals outputted from a subset of the optical couplers (PC), each optical couplers (PC) in said subset being connected to a different optical cross-connect unit (OXC1 through OXCs). In each transponder bank (TBK), for each of the signals outputted by the optical switches (PS) in that transponder bank (TBK), a signal of a desired wavelength is selected and supplied to a transponder.
