    • A power supply (100) for providing power to a load includes a first subconverter (106) having input terminals for coupling to a first input power source and output terminals and a second subconverter (110) having input terminals for coupling to a second input power source and output terminals. The first subconverter is configured to supply an AC current and an AC voltage at its output terminals. The second subconverter is configured to supply one of a substantially constant DC current and a substantially constant DC voltage at its output terminals. At least one of the output terminals of the first subconverter is coupled to at least one of the output terminals of the second subconverter. The power supply is configured to supply the AC current, the AC voltage, the substantially constant DC current and the substantially constant DC voltage substantially simultaneously to the load (102).

    • An electric brake power conversion and distribution system (10) for use in aircraft is provided. An array of DC-DC converters (24,26,28) is interposed between a DC power source (12) and a plurality of aircraft electric brake actuators (36). Each of the DC-DC converters has a characteristic output voltage. The DC-DC converters are interconnected in an additive series of connections to provide an output voltage to the plurality of aircraft electric brake actuators that comprises the sum of the characteristic voltages of the DC-DC converters that are enabled at a particular point in time. A controller (44) manipulates an array of switches (46,48,50) interconnected with the array of DC-DC converters (24,26,28), such that the controller can selectively enable or inhibit selected ones of the DC-DC converters, as desired. Accordingly different voltages can be made available for the electric brake actuators (36) depending upon aircraft activity, such as landing, taxiing, parking, or in flight. The invention reduces the size, weight, cost, and associated heat buildup of prior power conversion and distribution systems.
