    • Present disclosure relates to a HID switch with security function that permits sharing of peripherals between multiple computers in a multi-network computer system. The HID switch is configured to connect at least one user input peripheral device and at least two host computers. The HID switch incudes a first directing module and a second directing module, wherein the two directing modules are physically isolated. The passages directed to the two directing modules are controlled by a physical peripheral selector. The physical peripheral selector is configured to selectively enable the first passage and the second passage, wherein only one of the first and second passages is enabled at a time. When one of the first or the second passages is enabled, there is only one host computer is electrically connected to the user input peripheral device via one of the directing modules.

    • A hosting computer accepts specialized keyboard and mouse input via a generic device redirection channel from a client computer. A device manager has interfaces to the generic device redirection channel and to a system queue for communicating keyboard and mouse input events to an operating system. The system queue has a separate interface to a virtual channel for receiving redirected keyboard and mouse input from standard keyboard and mouse devices. The device manager identifies keyboard and mouse functions of other devices connected to the client computer and having device input redirected to the hosting computer via the generic device redirection channel, and establishes respective device context engines for handling input events from the identified functions. The device context engines open the keyboard and mouse functions, and upon receiving input events from functions, queues the input events on the system queue to communicate them to the operating system.

    • In a KVM switch system where multiple servers and clients are connected to one or more KVM switches, dongles (adapters) are connected between each server and the KVM switch. Each dongle is always connected to the same server, and its unique dongle ID can be used to identify the servers. During a communication session between a target server and a client, if the target server is moved from one computer port of the KVM switch system to another, the KVM switch automatically detects the move using dongle IDs, and automatically re-establish communication between the client and the target server via the other computer port, without the client initiating a new connection request. Virtual port numbers are associated with dongle IDs and are used by the on-screen display of the client so that the displayed list of servers is not affected when the servers are moved to different ports.

    • Multiple displays (37a, 37b, 37c) are placed side by side. A key image (58a, 58b) to be drag-and-dropped is displayed on a first display (37a). An actual drop target area (56) into which the key image is to be dropped is displayed on the rest of the displays. The key image is held by placing a cursor thereon and pressing a right click button (42b) of a mouse (42). In response to this, a drop window (60) that is a reduced image of the drop target area is displayed on the first display. The cursor is moved onto the drop window by operating the mouse with the right click button pressed. Releasing the right click button in a desired position in the drop window drops the key image. Based on a drop position in the drop window, the key image is dropped in a corresponding position in the actual drop target area.
