A remote control unit controls one or more CE devices by obtaining control information necessary to control each CE device from a Consumer Electronic Device Control Database (CEDB). A CEDB provides control information, such as command codes and metadata, for various CE devices as well as providing a mapping between CE device types, CE brands, and particular CE devices. A remote control unit accesses the records provided by a CEDB to provide automatic and programistic control of CE devices.

The remote control device includes a shell (1) configured with a thermoelectric generation module (3), a central processor (2), a button module (4) and a RF module (5). The thermoelectric generation module (3) is connected with each of the other modules (2, 4 and 5). The central processor (2) is connected with the button module (4) and the RF module (5). The thermoelectric generation module (3) includes an electricity generation unit (31). The electricity generation unit (31) includes two metal sheets (311 and 312) which are made of different materials and form a closed loop circuit via two connection points (A and B). The electricity generation unit (31) is able to generate a thermoelectromotive force based on a temperature difference between the two connection points (A and B), and powers the other modules (2, 4 and 5) by the thermoelectromotive force.

摘要： A home entertainment device eliminates the need to use multiple remote's. The device is connected (by wired and/or wireless links) to electronic consumer devices (ECDs) to be controlled. A user uses a portable display device to view pages served by the device, and thereby to communicate with the device and indirectly control the ECDs. In a first aspect, a HDMI-CEC communication is used to identify a codeset from a codeset database. In a second aspect, the codeset of a remote is identified by serving pictures of remotes to the user. The user selects a picture and the system looks up its codeset. In a third aspect, keys on an illustration of a remote are dragged and dropped to create a new custom remote. In a fourth aspect, the user supplies a digital photograph of a remote. The system performs optical recognition and identifies the type of remote and its codeset.
