Each tracking unit includes one or more accelerometers and one or more gyroscopes to provide distance and heading or directional information. A master control station (MCS, 200) receives the distance and heading information or location information based thereon. The MCS programmed to determine the location based on: determination of a reference point and heading for the at least one tracking unit; data from the accelerometers and gyroscope, which provides distance and direction information; and aggregation of the distance and direction information.

In an article anti-lost method, the host and the sensor are firstly paired, and then the sensor is combined with a to-be-monitored article and a warning distance is set. When a distance between the sensor and the host exceeds the warning distance, a warning signal is outputted, and an orientation and a distance of the sensor are prompted on the host. With the structure and the method, when the article leaves the user by a predetermined distance, the user can be reminded to prevent the article from getting lost or stolen.

The locator receiver (28) may also be portable so that the person to be monitored can be tracked down and recovered. In an alternate embodiment, the portable modules (22) are encoded with unique identification information which is transmitted as a part of the locator signal. The locator receiver (56) decodes this information and displays the identification of the wearer of the portable module (22) on a display (64).

摘要： A radio tracking system (10) and method of operation thereof are disclosed. A small hand holdable radio tracking receiver (12) monitors a distance between the receiver and a plurality of radio transmitters (14, 16, 18) relative to a set range (20). When any of the transmitters exceed the set range, an alarm is generated by the receiver which enables the user (600) to switch the receiver from an omnidirectional receiving mode to a directional receiving mode. The received signal strength is displayed on a display (24) to enable the user to point the receiver in the direction from which the maximum signal strength is being received which enables the user to locate and move towards the transmitter which has exceeded the set range. A transmitter user may origninate an alarm to enable the receiver user to locate the transmitter which originated the alarm.
