摘要： According to the cleaning unit of copying apparatus related to the invention, first, a part of photoreceptive drum and adjacent cleaning unit expose themselves by causing the part of copying apparatus to move in the direction at a right angle apart from the axis of photoreceptive drum. This allows a main charger installed to said cleaning unit to integrally be loaded into and unloaded from the copying apparatus together with the cleaning unit. The cleaning unit can be opened in the state of being secured to the copying apparatus by rotating it in the direction apart from the photoreceptive drum, and the main charger secured to the cleaning unit can also be opened by rotating it in the direction identical to that of the cleaning unit.

The waste toner collecting system comprises a cleaning unit for removing residual toner on the image carrier after the toner image has been transferred, a container, independent of the cleaning unit, for storing the removed waste toner, a transport device for conveying the waste toner removed by the cleaning unit to the container, an outlet formed in the toner transport device so as to discharge the waste toner, a waste toner inlet formed in the container at the position corresponding to the outlet in the toner transport device, and shutter members provided for the outlet and the inlet, respectively, the shutter members being opened or closed according as the container is mounted or dismounted.

The process components also include a developer roll (92), for applying charged toner particles to the imaging area. The developer roll (92) has an acting region centered relative to, and extending slightly beyond, each end of the length (Li) of the imaging area (210). Importantly, the process components include a cleaning component that includes a cleaning blade (138) for removing waste toner from the imaging area (210), and an auger for transporting the waste toner in a waste toner flow direction (220). The cleaning blade (138) has an acting region slightly longer than the length (Li) of the imaging area (210), and that is offset relative to the imaging area in the direction of waste toner flow, thereby enabling the process cartridge (100) to reliably and effectively produce and transfer high quality toner images.
