    • A waste toner collecting system in an image forming equipment which forms on the surface of an image carrier an electrostatic latent image corresponding to an original image, visualizes the latent image with toner and transferrs the toner image onto a copying material. The waste toner collecting system comprises a cleaning unit for removing residual toner on the image carrier after the toner image has been transferred, a container, indepen­dent of the cleaning unit, for storing the removed waste toner, a transport device for conveying the waste toner removed by the cleaning unit to the container, an outlet formed in the toner transport device so as to discharge the waste toner, a waste to­ner inlet formed in the container at the position corresponding to the outlet in the toner transport device, and shutter members provided for the outlet and the inlet, respectively, the shutter members being opened or closed according as the container is mounted or dismounted.

    • A process cartridge (100) includes a housing having walls (102,104,106) defining a process chamber (18) and a photoreceptor (84) mounted to the walls (102,104) within the process chamber (118) and having a closed loop path and an imaging area (210) having a given length (Li). The process cartridge (100) also includes plural process components acting along the closed loop path for producing imaging effects on the photoreceptor for forming on, and for transferring from, the photoreceptor, a toner image. The process components include a charging component that includes a pin-array charge emitting device (214) having an acting region precisely only as long as the length (Li) of the imaging area (210), in order to avoid occurrence of "dark bands" towards edges of a formed and transferred toner image. The process components also include a developer roll (92), for applying charged toner particles to the imaging area. The developer roll (92) has an acting region centered relative to, and extending slightly beyond, each end of the length (Li) of the imaging area (210). Importantly, the process components include a cleaning component that includes a cleaning blade (138) for removing waste toner from the imaging area (210), and an auger for transporting the waste toner in a waste toner flow direction (220). The cleaning blade (138) has an acting region slightly longer than the length (Li) of the imaging area (210), and that is offset relative to the imaging area in the direction of waste toner flow, thereby enabling the process cartridge (100) to reliably and effectively produce and transfer high quality toner images.
