摘要： A glucose monitoring system comprising a readhead positioned a predetermined distance from a sample aperture. The readhead comprises first and second LEDs adapted to emit intersecting paths of light. A beam splitter is positioned at the intersection of the light paths. The beam splitter comprises a band pass filter for controlling the center wavelength of a resulting coaxial emitted light for illuminating a sample on the sample aperture. The readhead further comprises a detector which comprises a detector aperture and a molded lens over the detector aperture. A light-scattering section upstream of the lens comprises a plurality of steps having angles greater than 90 degrees to reduce internal stray light.

摘要： The invention relates to a test strip system and corresponding methods for reading the concentration of a medically significant component of a biological fluid from test strips.
In order to reduce both instrument components errors and user's handling errors the invention makes use of a pathway (166) along which radiation is guided from a radiation source (264) to the strip (106) when the strip (106) is inserted into a device (20) and along which remission is guided from the strip (106) to a radiation detector (176,266) when the strip (106) is inserted into the device (20), and a housing (120,134,142) providing a surface for providing a first remission. The housing (120,134,142) providing a surface is separated from the radiation source (264) by the strip (106) when the strip (106) is inserted into the device (20). The first remission and the strip (106)'s remission indicate the absence and the presence, respectively, of the strip (106) in the device (20). By means of first and second opposed major surfaces of the strip (106) which have remissions being different from each other first and second orientations of the strip (106) are indicated.
