    • A sensor (10) for determining at least one rotation characteristic of a rotating element (12) is proposed. The sensor (10) comprises an encoder wheel (14) which can be connected to the rotating element (12) and has at least one first reading track (16). The reading track (16) has a first plurality of magnetic event transmitters (18). The sensor (10) also has at least one first magnetic sensor (22) for recording magnetic events produced by the first plurality of magnetic event transmitters (18). The first reading track (16) is designed in such a manner that a magnetic field strength of the first plurality of event transmitters (18) gradually changes from a first maximum north pole (28) to a first maximum south pole (30) over a complete circumference (20) of the encoder wheel (14).
