    • A swirler for creating a swirling fuel/air mix is presented. The swirler has vanes extending radially around a central axis of the swirler and positioned on an annular base. The swirler has mixing channels for mixing the fuel and the air. At least one mixing channel is defined by opposing walls of two adjacent vanes. At least one of the opposing walls includes a primary side injection opening for ejecting a stream of fuel into the mixing channel; and a secondary side injection opening which corresponds to the primary side injection opening and is for ejecting a jet of fuel into the mixing channel. The secondary side injection opening is positioned on the wall such that the jet from the secondary side injection opening creates turbulence, within the mixing channel, in the stream from the primary side injection opening. The turbulence increases mixing of fuel and air.

    • A fuel injector assembly 102 includes a shroud 116 defining a fuel manifold 122 therein. The fuel manifold 122 is fluidly coupled to a fuel line 106 to receive a fuel therefrom. The fuel injector assembly 102 further includes a center body 118 and a plurality of vanes 120 operatively coupling the center body 118 to the shroud 116. Each vane 120 of the plurality of vanes 120 is circumferentially spaced from circumferentially adjacent vanes 120 to define at least one passage 124 therebetween for routing of air therethrough. Each of the plurality of vanes 120 has at least one outlet hole 128 in fluid communication with the fuel manifold 122 and at least one passage 124 of the at least one passage 124 for expulsion of the fuel into the at least one passage 124 for mixing with the air. A fuel injector outlet is defined by an inner wall of the fuel injector assembly 102 and positioned to direct a fuel-air mixture out of the fuel injector assembly 102.

    • The multiple cone burner (1) comprises a swirl chamber (2) defined by a plurality of wall elements (7). A combination of nozzles at the pressure side, suction side and trailing edge of the wall element (7) are placed for fuel injection. The wall elements (7) define slots (8) between each other which have different widths (w) in consecutive planes (11, 11') in the axial direction; the planes (11, 11') are perpendicular to the central axis (5).
      The burner (1) further comprises a lance (3) in the swirl chamber (2), a transition element (22) at the larger end of the swirl chamber (2), and a mixing tube (23) connected to the transition element (22) providing an almost completely circular air passage (24) between the transition element (22) and the mixing tube (23). The passage (24) is arranged to eject a flow through it, substantially parallel to a surface of the mixing tube (23), wherein the axial location of the outlet (29) of the passage (24) and radial gap of the passage (24) are fixed. Spacers are arranged in the passage (24) on the surface of the mixing tube (23) and/or the transition element (22) to avoid eccentricity of the two parts while still allow sliding and air passage. The spacers are axially tilted in order to control the swirl of the purge flow to a desired value.
