摘要： An aircraft powerplant having a shaft is disclosed in one embodiment in which a squeeze-film damper is used. The squeeze-film damper includes a plurality of sectors having a working fluid. A pressure can be controlled in the working fluid to the sectors to discourage changes in the sectors as a result of vehicle maneuvering. A controller is used to operate upon sensed aircraft motion and regulate pressure in the sectors.

摘要： A fluid damping structure is provided that includes a damper ring. The damper ring includes an annular body, a plurality of fluid check valves (122), and at least one fluid stop (124). The annular body extends circumferentially around an axial centerline, and is defined by a first end surface (88), a second end surface (90), an outer radial surface (92), and an inner radial surface (94). The outer radial surface (92) and the inner radial surface (94) extend axially from the first end surface (88) toward the second end surface (90). The body includes one or more check valve passages (104). Each check valve passage (104) extends axially from an open end (106) disposed at the first end surface (88) inwardly toward the second end surface (90), and is disposed between the inner radial surface (94) and the outer radial surface (92). An inlet aperture (112) extends between each check valve passage (104) and the outer radial surface (92), and an outlet aperture (114) extends between each check valve passage (104) and the inner radial surface (94). Each fluid check valve (122) is disposed in a check valve passage (104). The at least one fluid stop (124) is configured to prevent fluid exit from the open end (106) of each check valve passage (104).

摘要： A magnetic squeeze film damper system comprises a bearing assembly (10) having an outer race (20) with a first outer surface (30) and a first inner surface (40) and rolling elements (50) located along the first inner surface (40). The system further comprises a squeeze film damper housing (60) having a second outer surface (70) and a second inner surface (80) that is contiguous with the first outer surface (30). A channel (90) having a forward end (100) and an aft end (110) is defined within the housing (60) along the second inner surface (80), the channel (90) being bordered by the first outer surface (30). The system further includes a first seal gland (120) located along the forward end (100) of the channel (90) and a second seal gland (130) located along the aft end (110) of the channel (90). Both seal glands (120, 130) comprise a reservoir (140, 150) for holding a magneto-rheological fluid (170). The reservoirs are encased in an elastomer (160). At least one electromagnet (180, 190) is arranged in close proximity to each of the seal glands (120, 130).
