摘要： Systems and methods for storing and releasing energy comprising directing inlet air into a vertical cold flue assembly, a portion of moisture being removed from the air within the cold flue assembly. The air is directed out of the cold flue assembly and compressed. The remaining moisture is substantially removed and the carbon dioxide is removed from the air by adsorption. The air is cooled in a main heat exchanger such that it is substantially liquefied using refrigerant loop air. The substantially liquefied air is directed to a storage apparatus. The refrigerant loop air is cooled by a mechanical chiller and by a plurality of refrigerant loop air expanders. In energy release mode, working loop fluid warms the released liquid air such that the released liquid air is substantially vaporized, and the released liquid air cools the working loop fluid such that the working loop fluid is substantially liquefied. A portion of the released liquid air is directed to the at least one generator and used as bearing air lor the at least one generator. The substantially vaporized air is directed to a combustion chamber and combusted with a fuel stream. Combustion gas may be directed from the combustion chamber to at least one expander, the expanded combustion gas split into two portions. The first portion may be directed to a first heat exchanger, and the second portion may be directed to a second heat exchanger such that the second portion heats and substantially vaporizes the released liquid air.

摘要： This invention provides a natural gas liquefaction plant including: a liquefying apparatus 11 that liquefies a natural gas 111 by heat exchange with refrigerants 135, 145, 155; refrigerant compressors 13, 14, 15 that compress the refrigerants 134, 144, 154 supplied to the liquefying apparatus 11; motors 131, 141, 151 that drive the refrigerant compressors 13, 14, 15; normally active power generator equipment sets 21-25 and standby power generator equipment 25, both kinds of power generator equipment being adapted to generate electric power for driving the motors 131, 141, 151; and a control apparatus 40 which, if one of the normally active power generator equipment sets 21-24 (e.g., the power generator equipment set 24) comes to an operational stoppage, increases output levels of the normally active power generator equipment sets 21-23 other than the power generator equipment whose operation has stopped, and starts the standby power generator equipment 25. This configuration allows the plant to suppress decreases in a supply rate of electric power due to an operational stoppage of turbine power generator equipment.

摘要： A refrigeration apparatus (7200) includes a heat pump circuit (7201) and a power generation circuit (7100). The power generation circuit (7100) includes an evaporator (701) including a first and a second heat exchanger (710a, 710b), a turbine (702), a condenser (703) and a pump (704). The first heat exchanger (710a) absorbs heat rejected from the heat pump circuit (7201) into a power generation circuit (7100) while the second heat exchanger (710b) further heats the fluid. The power generation circuit (7100) includes a bypass (707) which allows a portion of working liquid to enter the turbine (702) without passing through the evaporator (701). A heat pump (704) with similar bypass is also disclosed. Also disclosed are dual stage turbine design and a nozzle (10300) for a turbine which includes two fluid paths (1011, 1014) that adapted to receive and mix the liquid and vapour streams of working fluid, so that the liquid working fluid is vaporized by the heat from the vapour working fluid.

摘要： A cryogenic turbo-expander has a rotary shaft (10) which carries a turbine wheel (6) and carries or is operatively associated with an energy dissipating means (8) and which extends axially through a sleeve (12). First race means (80, 84) surrounding the shaft (10) and housing first bearing means (82) for the shaft (10). Second race means (90, 94) surround the shaft (10) and house second bearing means (92) for the shaft (10). The first and second bearing means are axially spaced from one another. Each race (80,84; 90, 94) has an aperture (86, 96) therein extending from an outer to an inner surface thereof communicating with a lubricating oil passage (52, 56) extending from an outer surface to an inner surface of the sleeve (12). Both race means (80, 84; 90, 94) are arranged so that spent lubricating oil can pass therefrom to a common drain passage (58). The cryogenic turbo-expander additionally includes a reservoir (40) for lubricating oil communicating with the aperture (86) in the first race means (80, 84) via an intermittently-operable metering pump (50) and with the second race means (90, 94) via an intermittently operable metering pump (54).
