    • In an injection molding machine, a distributor duct apparatus (10) for delivering a selected fluid to two or more separate, fluid driven cylinders (20) each of which is mounted on a heated manifold (30) and is interconnected to a valve pin (60) for effecting reciprocal movement of the valve pin (60) wherein the reciprocal movement of the valve pin (60) controls the flow of molten plastic being delivered through a nozzle which delivers molten plastic to a gate of a mold, the distributor duct apparatus (10) comprising: a distributor housing (10) mounted on an outside surface (25) of each of the cylinders (20), each of the cylinders (20) having a piston (80) slidably mounted within the bore (90) of an enclosed cylinder housing (20) for reciprocal fluid driven movement of the piston (80) within the bore (90) of the cylinder housing; the distributor housing (10) having at least two fluid flow channels (200,210), one channel (200) sealably communicating with a first fluid input/output port (203,204) to the bore (202) of each cylinder housing (20) and another channel (210) sealably communicating with a second fluid input/output port (213,214) to the bore (212) of each cylinder housing (20).

    • This invention relates to an injection molding system having a valve pin (38) which is hydraulically actuated between an open and a closed position in which its tip end (50) is seated in a gate (34) leading to the cavity. The actuating mechanism includes a piston (54) secured to the driven end (52) of the valve pin which reciprocates in a cylinder (56). The cylinder has an inner cylindrical member (58) which is brazed in an outer member (60) with a flanged portion (64). Separate hydraulic fluid ducts (88, 90) extend from the flanged portion (64) through the outer member (60), along grooves (92, 96, 100) in the outer wall (94) of the inner member and then through holes (102) through the inner member (58)to conduct hydraulic fluid to opposite sides of the piston. The flanged portion (64) of the outer member (60) ha a pair of passages (104,106) extending through it, each connected to one of the ducts (88, 90). Alternate ends of the passages are sealed off so that hydraulic fluid may be received either from supply lines drilled through the back plate (30) in which the cylinder is seated or an abutting top plate. This structure provides the advantage that the hydraulic fluid supply lines need not be drilled through the back plate if the system layout is such that there is a dangerthis could ruin the back plate.
