    • There is disclosed a mold for molding a box- shaped product having metal inserts (5) each having a body (51) and leg portions (52) projecting from the product. The mold includes a pair of mold halves (1,2), and a core (4) for placing the inserts thereon in such a manner that the body of the insert slightly spaced from the core, and that the body of the insert is disposed generally flush with or slightly spaced from a surface of one of the mold halves in which a cavity is formed. Slide cores (3), received respectively in grooves (21) in the one mold half (2), for movement therealong in directions perpendicular to a direction of opening of the two mold halves, and each of the slide cores has a cavity portion which is to be aligned with the cavity in the one mold half.

In order to further develop the machine in such a way that the workpiece can be economically punched and overmolded with plastic material in some regions, wherein the size of the workpiece is not limited by the size of the tools used, the machine (10) according to the invention has a programmable machine controller (48) for controlling the punching unit (26), the injection-molding unit (36), and the positioning device (22), and the at least one punching tool (52, 54) can be rotated about a vertical axis of rotation (60, 62) in order to process the workpiece (20; 180) in rotational positions that can be specified by means of programming, and the workpiece (20; 180) can be moved back and forth in a horizontal plane in a first feeding direction and a second feeding direction by means of the positioning device (22), wherein the workpiece (20; 180) can be positioned in the punching processing region (42) and in the injection-molding processing region (46) in horizontal positions that can be specified by means of programming and can be repeatedly processed by the punching unit (26) and the injection-molding unit (36) in successive process steps that can be specified by means of programming.
