    • The invention relates to a method for thin-slab strand casting, comprising the following steps: feeding a metal melt into a mold, molding a partially solidified thin-slab strand from the metal melt in the mold, reducing the flow velocity of the metal melt in the partially solidified thin-slab strand by means of an electromagnetic brake (EMBR) arranged in the region of the mold, and leading away the partially solidified thin-slab strand from the mold by means of a strand-guiding system, wherein unsolidified parts of the partially solidified thin-slab strand are stirred by means of an electromagnetic stirrer arranged below the mold downstream in the strand draw-off direction of the thin-slab strand, wherein a traveling electromagnetic field is produced by means of the electromagnetic stirrer in a region of the thin-slab strand that lies at a distance between 20 and 7,000 millimeters from the mold in the strand draw-off direction.

    • The present invention relates to casting equipment for producing a casting with a large cross-section for a very thick steel material and a casting method using the same, and the casting equipment includes; a casting part with a passage for a molten steel for casting the molten steel into a casting; a support part arranged separately from the casting part for receiving and supporting the casting in at least one of the sides of the casting; and a solidifying part arranged outside the casting provided with a first quality control device for solidifying the casting, whereby the casting method includes the steps of: preparing a molten steel for casting; casting the molten steel in the casting part with the passage opened or closed into a casting; conveying the casting to the solidifying part; and conveying the solidified casting to a subsequent process so as to improve the quality of the casting, thus increasing substantially the yield rate of castings. In addition, the molten steel is continuously stirred through the quality control device and a solidification inducement device from the start of casting to the end of solidifying the casting so as to enhance the exquiaxed surface ratio of the casting, and decrease segregation/porosity and the internal defects such as a pipe generated at an end of casting. Also, when producing a casting with a large cross-section for a very thick steel material, the casting part can produce another casting continuously while the previous casting is solidified in the solidifying part, thus saving the time consumend for solidifying the casting for a very thick stell material by means of the continouous solidifying part. This prevents the casting process from being stopped, thereby enhancing the productivity of a casting and the efficiency of the casting equipment.

    • Provided is a continuous cast slab and a manufacturing method for the same, wherein solidified layers of a cast slab having a non-solidified layer are compressed with each other during a continuous casting process to fundamentally prevent occurrence of defects, such as center segregation or porosity, which deteriorate quality of the cast slab, thereby decreasing defects. A continuous casting method for producing a cast slab by drawing molten steel from a mold includes preparing a compressing unit, and reducing at least one side of the drawn cast slab by using the compressing unit, wherein solute-enriched residual molten steel is caused to flow back in a direction opposite to a casting direction. Thus, it is possible to produce a cast slab wherein defects such as center segregation are greatly eliminated.

    • Disclosed is a continuous casting in which an electromagnetic stirrer is installed upstream, in the casting direction, of the reduction rolling position of a slab, and in which a slab with a liquid core is reduced in thickness, wherein by imparting a collision flow forming-type stirring and a uni-directional alternating flow forming-type stirring, molten steel with concentrated segregation elements is stirred and diffused in a width-wise direction of slab, whereby a slab stabilized in center segregation qualities can be produced over long-time casting operation. Since the stirring flowing pattern is selectively imparted by means of the same electromagnetic stirrer, it is effective for the decrease in facility and equipment costs or improvement in maintainability, extensively coping with various casting conditions. Thus, the technology can be applied extensively as a continuous casting method capable of stably ensuring excellent center segregation qualities over a long time in casting of high-strength steel with high crack susceptibility or steel grade for extremely thick plate product.
