    • Provided are a metal compound adsorbent to adsorb a negative ion metal compound and an efficient method of recovering a metal compound using the metal compound adsorbent while reducing an environmental burden through a simple process sequence. The metal compound adsorbent contains a free amino acid. The metal compound adsorbent contains, as the free amino acid, at least one kind of a first amino acid selected from among alanine, cystine, methionine, tyrosine, lysine, valine, glutamic acid, histidine, proline, threonine, asparagine, glycine, isoleucine, ornithine, arginine, serine, citrulline, and cystathionine. The metal compound adsorbent contains a total amount of 10 mol% or more of the free amino acid of the first amino acid relative to a total amount of the free amino acid. The method of recovering a metal compound uses the metal compound adsorbent.
