摘要： An activity-monitoring device for positioning on a body of a user or on an orthopedic device is provided. The device has a housing that encloses a circuit board assembly having a sensor that monitors movement of the circuit board assembly. The housing may be secured to the body of a user or orthopedic device with an dressing. The dressing can include a film layer to which the housing is adhered by an adhesive. The dressing can include a contact layer that is configured to attach to the user or to an orthopedic device.

Another inertial monitoring unit (48B) is configured to be attached to another portion of the patient, such as a shank (24), that is connected to the other portion by a joint, such as a joint (28). The inertial monitoring units (48A, 48B) detect motion of their respective portions of the patient and transmit data indicative of this motion. These transmissions may be received by a computer (54) and used to determine an orientation of the joint (28). The inertial monitoring units (48A, 48B) may also be coupled to vibration detection modules (50) and/or ultrasound modules (52) that provide additional data regarding a condition of the joint (28).

A housing, including an inner surface and an upper surface that cooperate to define an inner cavity, may be oriented with respect to a patient's leg. The upper surface may be slidably received within the inner cavity in a piston and cylinder configuration or may be otherwise configured. The system may include a pressure sensor configured to monitor the load profile of a patient during the desired period of partial weight bearing. The pressure sensor may be located below the upper surface. The system may include a noncompressible force transmitter positioned within the inner cavity and at least partially encapsulating an upper portion of the pressure sensor to transmit pressure within the housing to the pressure sensor.

摘要： A wearable mechatronic device for limb rehabilitation by operating in agonist-antagonist configuration, including a proximal stiff bearing structure attachable to the proximal element of the limb and a distal stiff bearing structure attachable to the distal element of the limb, said proximal and distal structures being pivotally connected about a revolute axis adapted to instantaneously self-align with the articulation axis of the limb and adapted to move around a point inside a space defined by two opposite cones having vertex coincident on such point. A couple of opposite adjustable joints allow the movement of the joint axis. Each shaft, which is linked between said proximal and distal structures, pivotally receives a driven pulley integral to the other among said proximal and distal structures. The opposite adjustable joints are respectively connected with a first and a second kinematic chain placed specularly to each other with respect to a longitudinal plane of the limb and connected with said proximal or distal structure. A combined hand-elbow exoskeleton is also provided comprising the wearable mechatronic device arranged at the elbow and a hand exoskeleton arranged at the hand. The hand exoskeleton comprises an external backing element applicable on the metacarpus, shell-like elements applicable on each phalanx connected in series to each other starting from said backing element by means of respective joints, and means to arrange operatively and automatically said joints in coincidence of each respective articulation of the hand.

摘要： The disclosed technique relates to an insert for footwear and to a composite orthotic insole comprising said insert, wherein the insert is embedded with a plurality of force (or pressure) sensors, and may be used to provide feedback on important information regarding the wearer's gait biomechanics.
