摘要： A recording arrangement operable to apply access control processing to input data content using a set of one or more content keys and to record access-controlled data content on a content storage medium, the arrangement comprising:
an encryption apparatus having means for encrypting portions of the data content in dependence upon the set of content keys; and an interface to provide a secure data connection between the encryption apparatus and an access control memory device;
an access-control memory device connected to the encryption apparatus via the interface and operable to store securely information from which the private key is derivable;
the encryption apparatus and the access-control memory device co-operating to provide means for generating content access control data comprising at least one encrypted version of a respective subset of the set of content keys, the content access control data being generated in dependence upon at least one public key of a respective public key / private key pair associated with a further access-control memory device so that decryption of the set of content keys requires access to a private key of the respective public key / private key pair, the at least one public key used in the generation of the content access control data depending on data stored by the access-control memory device; and
the recording arrangement having means for recording the encrypted information content and the content access control data on the content storage medium such that the information content may selectively be decrypted in dependence upon access to the private key of the respective public key / private key pair.

The recorder includes a recording section configured to record data onto a storage medium, a filter configured to identify from within a received transport stream, data of a television program for recording, a timer configured to be set with a time and, at that time, to start the recording section recording, onto the storage medium, data of the television program received from the filter and a cache configured to store data of the interactive services associated with television programs and provided in the respective transport streams of those television programs. The filter is configured additionally to identify, from within said received transport stream, data of interactive services associated with said television program. The timer is configured additionally to start, at a predetermined interval before said time, acquisition by the filter of said data of interactive services and storage of acquired data of interactive services in said cache. The recording section is additionally configured to record, immediately prior to starting recording the data of the television program, the content of the cache to the storage medium.

摘要： An information retrieval apparatus for searching a set of information items and displaying the results of the search, the information items each having a set of characterising information features. The apparatus includes a graphical user interface for displaying a representation of at least some of the identified items, and a user control for selecting an identified information item. The search processor is operable to refine the search to identify information items relating to the selected information item. As such the user is provide with a facility for refining a search by identifying desired information items with respect to items revealed as positions within the array which are mutually similar. Searching and navigating large amounts of data are thereby made easier.

摘要： An audio and/or video generation apparatus comprises a recording processor which is operable to record audio and/or video signals on a recording medium, a meta data generation processor which is operable to generate meta data identifying the content of the audio/video signals, and a communication processor which arranged to communicate the meta data separately from the recording medium. Furthermore, the meta data generation processor may be operable to generate at least one sample image which is representative of a video image from the recorded video signals, and to associate the sample image with an address on the recording medium at which the video image is recorded. The video and/or audio generation apparatus provides an advantage in generating and utilising meta data to facilitate the generation of audio/video productions.
