摘要： A flexible, weatherable, decorative sheet material useful as a paint film or decal comprising a pigmented fluoropolymer base coat layer overlying a substantially transparent fluoropolymer clear coat layer wherein the fluoropolymer composition of the base coat layer has a greater elongation than the fluoropolymer composition of the clear coat layer. The base coat and clear coat layer each comprise an alloy of a fluoropolymer composition and an acrylic polymer composition. The base coat layer comprises a fluoropolymer copolymer composition and the clear coat layer comprises a fluoropolymer homopolymer composition. The fluoropolymer used in the base coat layer has a produced elongation at break of 300 % or greater and the fluoropolymer composition used in the clear coat layer has a produced elongation at break of 50 % to 250 %. The clear coat and base coat layers are cast onto a polyester carrier sheet. An adhesive layer is cast onto another polyester carrier sheet such that the adhesive layer is releasably adhered to the carrier sheet. The adhesive layer is then laminated onto the base coat layer.

摘要： A transparent, static dissipative cover tape is disclosed. The transparent, static dissipative cover tape comprises a polyester-based substrate having respective first and second surfaces and a transparent, static dissipative layer on the first surface of said substrate, wherein the polyester based substrate comprises respective first and second polyester laminae secured to one another by a pressure sensitive adhesive interposed between the first and second laminae. Preferably the transparent, static dissipative cover tape comprises a transparent, static dissipative, heat sealable layer on a second surface of said substrate opposite the first surface comprising either polyaniline or an organotitanate in a styrene-butadiene copolymer matrix. Generally, the transparent, static dissipative cover tape further comprises a tie layer, a first styrene-butadiene copolymer heat sealable base layer, and optionally a second styrene-butadiene copolymer heat sealable base layer interposed between the polyester-based substrate and the transparent, static dissipative, heat sealable layer. The invention further comprises a static-protective package for electronic components and a method of sealing an electronic component in a static-protective package. The transparent, static dissipative cover tape of the invention has increased clarity and adhesive stability over conventional cover tapes.

摘要： The flexible, weatherable decorative sheet material provided by the present invention comprises a thermoformable decorative paint film having an inner surface and a weatherable, low gloss outer surface suitable for forming an exterior finish for a part, such as an automobile body part. The sheet material further includes an extensible mask layer releasably adhered to the outer surface of the paint film to form a protective film overlying the paint film. The mask layer comprises a film-forming polymer component and a particulate filler, such as silica, dispersed in the polymer component. A method of constructing the decorative sheet material, a method of controlling the gloss appearance of a paint film, and a composite shaped part including the decorative sheet material are also provided.

The decorative sheet material includes an adhesive layer overlying the inner surface of the decorative paint film, wherein the adhesive layer comprises a chlorinated polypropylene component and a chlorinated polyolefin component. The chlorinated polypropylene component has a peel strength of at least about 0.8 lbs./in. at 100 DEG C and the chlorinated polyolefin component has a peel strength of at least about 5 lbs./in. at room temperature. The two chlorinated components have similar chlorine contents, such as between about 20 to about 40 weight percent chlorine. 摘要： An improved method of forming a laminated, fire resistant flexible sheet material, and the resulting laminate product are disclosed. The method comprises directing a second web of flexible material to overlie a first web of a flexible material in which the face of the first web is coated with an admixture of a substantially solvent-free adhesive and a fire retardant composition so that the adhesive in the admixture joins the webs together to form a fire retardant flexbile laminate construction.

摘要： A flexible, weatherable decorative sheet material useful as a surfacing film for automobile parts is provided comprising a base layer (18) of extruded, pigmented, flexibilized polyalkyl methacrylate film and a substantially transparent clear outer layer (14) overlying a first surface of the base layer. The clear outer layer (14) comprises a film formed of a composition selected from the group consisting of urethane polymers, acrylic polymers, fluoropolymers, and alloys of a fluoropolymer and an acrylic polymer. The clear outer layer (14) may be extruded or cast in the form of a coating. The decorative sheet material further includes a color adjustment layer (16) between the base layer (18) and the clear outer layer (14), wherein the color adjustment layer comprises a layer of printing ink that optionally includes pigments, dyes, flakes, and mixtures thereof. The color adjustment layer has a transparency and tint necessary to alter the natural color appearance of the base layer to achieve a desired match to a predetermined automotive color standard. The base layer material may be used to bond the decorative sheet material to Low Pressure Molding Compounds and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer molding substrates without additional backing layers. The decorative sheet material may include a thermoformable backing layer (22) adhered to a second surface of the base layer and designed to bond the decorative sheet material to thermoplastic molding resins. A method of making the above-described sheet material is also provided.
