摘要： A device for controlling an electrical load, such as lighting, comprises a presence detector 1 responsive to a person within the detection range of the detector, and a manual control. The manual control may be a proximity sensor 2, 3 responsive to the presence of a hand within the detection range of the sensor where the detection range of the presence detector is at least ten tunes that of the proximity sensor. The device may switch on the load in response to detection of a person by the presence detector and switch off the load in response to the sensing of a hand by the proximity sensor, or alternatively, switch on the load in response to sensing a hand and switch off in response to detecting a person. The device may alternatively comprise a proximity sensor and a wireless remote control. The proximity sensor may use infra-red and have a shield member in its housing to prevent direct transmission from the transmitter to the receiver. A method of calibrating the proximity sensor is also disclosed.
