    • The invention relates to a system for drilling subsea wells from a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), comprising;
      a marine drilling riser (8) arranged from the MODU to a seabed located Blow Out Preventer (BOP) (6),
      a drill string (3) arranged from the MODU through the marine drilling riser (8) and BOP (6) and further down a wellbore,
      at least one closing device (13, 15) arranged in the marine drilling riser (8), or in a high pressure part of the system below the marine drilling riser (8), such as integral with the BOP (6), the closing device (13, 15) being adapted to close the annulus outside the drill string (3). The system further comprises:
      at least one mud return outlet (29, 35) fluidly connected to the annulus at a lower part of the marine drilling riser (8) or below the riser (8) as well as below said closing device (13, 15), for flowing mud to a subsea lift pump (40) that is configured to pump the received mud from the wellbore annulus (5) to above sea level, and
      a means (8; 38) for separating gas from mud, coupled into the path of flow from the annulus (5) to the subsea lift pump (40), and
      a means (8; 35; 10) for dynamic regulation of annular well pressure, coupled to the path of flow from the annulus to the subsea lift pump (40).


      The invention further relates to a subsea drilling method for controlling the wellbore annular pressure, a subsea drilling method for maintaining constant bottom hole pressure in a well during drilling and well circulation and a method of drilling a subsea well bore.

    • The invention provides a method and apparatus for performing a plug and abandonment operation on a subsea well. A wellhead interface module is located on a wellhead, which accommodates a volume of wellbore fluid in fluid communication with the wellbore. A system control module receives a signal from a sensor in the chamber and is configured to derive volume data relating to a change in volume of wellbore fluid in the chamber and compares the derived volume data with a volume change expected due to the removal of tubing from the wellbore. In embodiments of the invention, this enables a change in wellbore conditions to be characterised, for example a fluid influx or a fluid loss, from the volume data. The method may comprise providing wellbore fluid to the apparatus to replace fluid which enters the wellbore to occupy the volume vacated by the tubing, and/or removing or adding fluid in fluid influx/loss situations respectively.
