摘要： The present invention provides a novel drill insert having chipbreakers, or chip splitting grooves formed through the cutting surface. The cutting tool insert has a specialised geometry including a chip splitting groove formed at a negative rake angle. The chip splitting grooves increase the cutting efficiency of the tool while allowing the edge strength to be increased while also allowing higher feed rates.

摘要： The present invention is a drilling system for cutting flat bottomed holes in work pieces. The tool has two opposing angled cutting edges (62, 64) extending upwardly to create an overlapping web (70) at the center. The angle at which the inner portion of the cutting edge (62, 64) is inclined is increased to create a center point on the cutting surface of the tool. The cutting edge (62, 64) has a rake surface with a positive rake angle (80) that lessens the forces on an insert (35), and also allows for better formation of chips of stock material being removed. Chip breakers (82) can be cut into the cutting edges (62, 64) of the insert (35), further aiding in the removal of stock material.

摘要： An adjustable drill is provided comprising a drill body having a face surface with a directional feature provided therewith. At least one cartridge is selectively mounted adjacent the face surface and selectively slidable along the directional feature to provide adjustment. At least one insert is releasably affixed in an insert pocket provided in the cartridge. In further examples, the adjustable drill may have a central cutting system in combination with the adjustable cartridge type system, wherein the central cutting system may be modular. There may also be provided a modular type of holder arrangement to provide flexibility to adapt the system for various applications.
