    • An angle station for an endless conveyor belt has an upper and a lower horizontal roller bank (11, 12) disposed in parallel with each other across a framework (10) of the angle station. The angle of entry to the angle station of the upper run is co-linear with the exit of the lower return run. A reversing roller (15) is associated with the lower bank (12) to reverse the direction of the incoming return run (13d) before it passes over and round the lower roller bank (12) and a reversing roller (14) is associated with the upper bank (11) to reverse the direction of the outgoing upper run (13e) of the belt after it has passed over and round the upper roller bank (11). The roller banks (11, 12) are interchangeably mountable on the framework to receive a right-handed or left-handed belt. Each roller bank comprises a stationary guide member (20) mounted on a support bar (21) removeably mounted on the framework in one of two different attitudes for right and or left-handed belts, and the stationary guide members being interchangeably mountable on the support bars for right and left-handed belts. Each stationary guide member has the shape of a major segment of a right circular cylinder with openings (22) therein through which project an array of freely rotatable rollers (23) disposed in a helical path and in an attitude to change the direction of the belt through an angle equal to the lesser angle of entry. Moreover, the pair of guide members having helical paths of opposite hand so that the upper guide member for one hand (Fig. 1) becomes the lower guide member for the opposite hand (Fig. 4).

    • L'invention concerne des machines excavatrices circulaires permettant de creuser des tunnels par progression par paliers de la machine et installation de supports du tunnel. La machine excavatrice circulaire possède un corps allongé (10) à l'extrémité antérieure duquel est monté un mandrin de coupe (11) dirigé vers l'avant, des béliers font avancer la machine pas à pas en agissant contre des dispositifs de serrage (23) et un anneau de profilage (18, 18') limite le mouvement périphérique du mandrin de coupe pour former un profil précis. Un tablier collecteur (16) est prévu à l'extrémité antérieure du corps de la machine. Le mandrin de coupe (10) est monté sur un chariot coulissant (12) mobile longitudinalement et indépendamment du corps de la machine et une hotte (187) surmonte le tablier. Une cage (21) s'étend vers l'arrière depuis la hotte et entoure le mandrin de coupe (11) et le chariot coulissant (12), et des moyens d'installation (20) de support du tunnel sont prévus extérieurement à la cage, directement derrière la hotte. Ainsi, des structures de support du tunnel sont montées au-dessus du corps de la machine plutôt que derrière celle-ci et donc le montage et installation de structures de support du tunnel ont lieu simultanément à l'opération de coupe. La hotte (17) est un organe semi-circulaire supporté par des béliers hydrauliques (17A) pour l'ajustement de la hauteur.

    • The inspection line pan has an opening (11), in its deck plate (10) and a three-piece door (12) located in the opening. The door is formed of three rectangular panels (15, 16, 17) of similar length and width which are disposed transversely of each other. The outer panels (15, 17) are pivotally connected to the centre panel (16) and the centre panel has transverse grooves (18) which are supported on tongues on central portions of the opening (10) for transverse movement. In use, one or other outer panel can be pivotally raised for inspection below the line pan. If access to the area below the line pan is required, the centre panel can be slid transversely into the space created by the raised outer panel and after the centre panel is free of the tongues, it can be lifted clear of the opening. If the outer panels are attached to the centre panel, they are lifted clear of the opening with the centre panel; otherwise they are removed separately.
