    • The invention relates to a device for degassing a fibrous material suspension (1) in a closed degassing space (2) having at least one feed (3) through which the fibrous material suspension (1) is introduced, wherein the fibrous material suspension (1) collects in the lower part of the degassing space (2), the degassing space (2) is connected above the suspension level (4) of the collecting fibrous material suspension (1) to a reduced pressure source (5) which sucks out the gas that has been separated out, at least one outlet (6) which is beneath the suspension level (4) and removes the degassed fibrous material suspension (1), and an overflow present between the feed (3) and outlet (6) at the height of the suspension level (4), wherein the feed (3), overflow and outlet (6) are each spaced apart horizontally from one another. In this context, the extent of the degassing space (2) and hence also of the material expenditure are to be reduced, without impairing the function, by forming the overflow from at least one elongated overflow channel (7) which runs transverse to the flow direction of the fibrous material suspension (1) between the feed (3) and outlet (6) and is open at the top.
