摘要： The present invention relates an interactive media guidance application that provides channel groups. Channel groups may include media channels, such as television channels, radio stations, Internet web sites, etc. Channel groups may be organized around a common characteristic, by utilizing user profile information, and by human editorial selection (e.g., by a service provider or by a user). The guidance application provides information on the channel groups, including media listings, reminders, pending and completed recordings, purchased programs, and previously accessed programs for the channel group. The guidance application enables the user to focus a guidance application function on the channel group. In response to a user initiation to execute the function on the channel group, the function may be executed on all the media channels belonging to the channel group. Information on the channel group and access to functions that are executable on the channel group may be concentrated in a channel group portal screen of the guidance application.

摘要： A method of providing a plurality of users with access to television programs is proposed. The users receive broadcast television programs each on user equipment, each broadcast television program having a scheduled start time and stop time. A subset of the broadcast television programs are selectively stored on user accessible storage of a server remote from the users for an access period. The users are provided with access to each of the stored programs during the access period. Each of the stored programs is removed from the storage at the end of its access period.

The substitute media may be distributed in the advertisement using any suitable method. For example, the substitute media may be incorporated in the video frames of the advertisement (e.g., overlaid in the video frames of the advertisement), added as hidden video frames distributed in the advertisement, or any other suitable approach. 摘要： An interactive television system is provided in which an interactive television application is used to support network-based or local personal video recorder capabilities. A user may use the interactive television application to view lists of program listings. The user may select a program listing of interest. The interactive television application may allow the user to set a reminder for the selected program at the scheduled broadcast time. The interactive television application may also allow the user to set a reminder for the selected program at a later time at which the program is not scheduled to be broadcast. The user may be provided with a reminder at this later time. In response, the user may direct the network-based or local personal video recorder to play back the program or may defer the reminder gain. The interactive television application may collect information on program usage and popularity to determine how long to retain certain programming on the network.

The media planner may include an interactive grid of content with scheduled viewing, recording, or reminders set within a user-selectable time window. In one embodiment, series assets may automatically be included into a playlist for that series. 摘要： A media recording system may be provided. The recording system may include features for reducing recording cut-off of a particular media event due to changes in the start time and end time of what is scheduled to be recorded. The recording system may provide a user with an opportunity to select a program by for example, selecting a listing, to have that program automatically recorded at a scheduled time for presentation to viewers. Changes in the schedule of programs may be compensated manually or automatically when the recording system receives information about actual or predicted time changes. In a manual mode, a user may adjust start or end times based on time change information that is displayed. For an automatic mode, the recording system may automatically compensate for predicted or actual time changes that are known by automatically adjusting the start and end times of recording.
