    • A method of managing a media path for a media session established between users across a plurality of interconnected Internet Protocol (IP) networks which utilize Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Session Description Protocol (SDP) signaling. The method comprises, at session establishment via a signaling path over the IP networks, making a determination that a shortcut media path is available, wherein the shortcut media path deviates from the signaling path. The method further comprises making a further determination that nodes in the signaling path will subsequently be able to maintain the shortcut media path in the event of a subsequent session update or re-invite and, at a subsequent session update or re-invite, including within update or re-invite signaling an indication that the shortcut media path is to be maintained.

    • A telecommunications network has a packet switched domain for handling packet based calls and a circuit switched telephony domain for handling circuit switched calls. A node of the packet switched telephony domain decides whether to terminate a call to a user equipment using a packet based connection to the user equipment or using a circuit switched connection to the user equipment. In response to deciding to terminate the call using the circuit switched connection, the node sends, to a further node controlling routing of calls between the packet switched telephony domain and the circuit switched telephony domain, an indication that services related to the call are controlled in the packet switched telephony domain. In accordance with the indication, the further node may then adapt its control signalling with respect to a node of the circuit switched telephony domain.

    • A method of Dual Radio Access Transfer of an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, controlled voice or video call in an alerting phase for the Packet Switched, PS, to Circuit Switched, CS, direction. The method comprises initiating a SIP session towards a terminating mobile station, UE and, during a voice or video call alerting phase, making a determination at the UE that a DRVCC transfer is required from a PS to a CS access. The method comprises sending a SIP message in the initiated SIP session from the UE to a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server, SCC-AS, the SIP message including a request to initiate session transfer from PS to CS, and responding to receipt of the SIP message at the SCC-AS by sending a SIP INVITE from the SCC-AS towards the UE, the INVITE including the Session Transfer Number, STN, as the calling party identity, and receiving the INVITE at a Mobile Switching Centre, MSC, serving the UE in the CS access. The method further comprises responding to receipt of said INVITE at the MSC, or to receipt of associated CS signalling, by sending from the MSC to the UE a CS Setup message, whereupon the MSC is placed in a state in which it expects a CS Answer from the UE.
