    • A water closet having a drainage port in a position higher than the floor. During a flushing operation, an air vent space is partitioned by a water wall formed by a water flux dropping from a dam and by an increase of the water level in a reservoir, and the air in a trap is pushed out speedily toward the drainage port due to the rapid flow of water to make vacuous the interior of a trap's drainage passage and make it ready to start a siphoning action. When the feeding of water from a tank has been completed, so that the continuous siphoning action approaches the end thereof, a notch is formed in the water wall to permit the air to enter the air vent space immediately. Accordingly, the entry of the air into the air vent space occurs earlier, and the siphoning action terminates speedily.
      Abstract
      A water closet having a drain hole above a floor, in which at the time of flushing, a vent space is partitioned in a wall-like manner by a water bundle falling from a weir portion and a rise in water level of a sump portion, air within a trap is quickly forced toward a drain hole side by water power to render the interior of a trap drainage negative pressure so that siphon action easily occurs, and when feed of water from a tank terminates to be about to terminate siphon duration, air is promptly introduced from a notch in a partitioning wall whereby timing of air introduction is quickened and siphon is quickly shut off.

      Solution Means: The present invention is a flush toilet (1), comprising a bowl portion (2) having a bowl-shaped waste-receiving surface and a rim portion, the inside wall surface on the top edge of which protrudes inward; a trap pipe (4) connected to the bottom portion of the bowl portion to expel waste within the bowl portion; a first shelf portion (6) formed to follow the rim portion; a second shelf portion (8) formed on the waste-receiving surface below the first shelf portion and above an initial accumulated water level; a first orifice (10) for issuing water onto the first shelf portion and forming a swirl flow on the waste-receiving surface; a second orifice (12) for issuing water onto the second shelf portion and forming a flow to stir flush water within the bowl portion; and first and second flow paths (14, 16) for respectively supplying flush water to the first and second orifices.
