摘要： A water-absorbing resin which is obtained by beating a massy water-containing gel cross-linking polymer having viscosity and flexibility and drying without kneading and crushing. When the polymer contains bubbles, beating is carried out in such a manner as to restrict the decrease of the bubbles in the polymer. To beat the polymer, it is possible to employ a method which cuts the polymer by shearing by stationary blades and rotary blades; a method which cuts the resin by using a cutter equipped with pairs of rotary blades disposed on mutually different shafts and rotating while at least a part thereof rotates in superposition; a method which cuts the polymer by a cutter having rotary blades with a lubricant; a method which freezes the resin and then beats it. According to these methods, the decrease of the bubbles contained in the polymer can be restricted, and a porous water-absorbing resin having excellent water absorptivity can be mass-produced easily in an industrial manner.

摘要： A water-absorbent resin is produced by dispersing a solid blowing agent with an average particle diameter in the range of 1 to 100 νm in an aqueous solution containing an unsaturated monomer and a cross-linking agent and polymerizing the monomer. The resin is excellent in the ability to diffuse aqueous liquids and in water absorption characteristics such as the rate of water absorption, water retention capacity and dry touch, and is reduced in the contents of water-soluble components and residual monomers. Sanitary materials prepared from a composition of this resin are improved in the rate of water absorption and water retention capacity and can avoid leakage.

摘要： Hydrophilic polymer is modified with a gaseous modifier or a powdered modifier made from a liquid modifier. To powder a liquid modifier, the liquid modifier is mixed with a water-insoluble compound, or the liquid modifier is cooled below its melting point to solidify it. With these methods it is possible to modify a hydrophilic polymer uniformly. When a gaseous modifier is used, the hydrophilic polymer and the modifier can be made to react efficiently and safely regardless of the size and shape of the hydrophilic polymer. When a hydrophilic polymer is modified with a powdered modifier, it is possible to uniformly mix a liquid modifier, virtually in a solid state, with a hydrophilic polymer and to easily control the timing of the modification.

摘要： A sheetlike absorbent material is produced by reducing the water content of a hydrogel of a hydrophilic cross-linked polymer under pressing (milling) and feeding. A gel composition comprising, for example, a hydrogel containing a cross-linked poly(meth)-acrylic acid (salt), glycerol (polyhydric alcohol), and polyester fibers (molding assistant) onto a dryer drum on the upperstream side of a press roller, whereby the gel composition is pressed (milled) and heated by the press roller to give a sheet with at least one surface thereof smoothed. The absorbent material produced by the above process is excellent particularly in absorption characteristics such as absorption speed and absorption factor under pressure and shape retention.
