    • The invention refers to a feeding device for feeding an optical fiber from a coil and for recoiling unused fiber for use in an apparatus for measuring the temperature of a melt. The device comprises a support for a coil, a feeding mechanism for decoiling the optical fiber from the coil and recoiling the optical fiber and at least one motor for driving the feeding mechanism.
      It is the object of the present invention to avoid blockage when decoiling and recoiling a fiber from a coil of a feeding device for feeding an optical fiber.
      The object of the invention is solved by a device for feeding an optical fiber from a coil and for recoiling unused fiber. The device comprises a support for a coil, a feeding mechanism for decoiling an optical fiber from the coil and recoiling the optical fiber and at least one motor for driving the feeding mechanism. The device comprises a load for the optical fiber which avoids a spring back effect of the optical fiber from the coil. As a result, a blockage is avoided when decoiling and recoiling the fiber.

    • The present invention relates to a sampler for taking samples from a molten metal bath, particularly a molten iron, the sampler comprising:
      - a carrier tube having an immersion end; and

      The invention also relates to a sampler for taking samples from a molten metal bath, particularly a molten iron, the sampler comprising:
      - a carrier tube having an immersion end;
      - a sample chamber assembly arranged on the immersion end of the carrier tube, the sample chamber assembly comprising a cover plate and a housing, wherein the cover plate comprising a sealing member configured to provide a substantially gas tight seal between the cover plate and the housing, wherein the sealing member consist of an essentially noncontaminating material for the samples in the sample chamber.

    • The present invention relates to a sample chamber for taking samples from a molten metal bath, particularly from a molten steel bath or molten iron bath. The sample chamber comprises a flat cover plate and a housing, wherein the flat cover plate and the housing are configured to be assembled together along an analysis plane AP to form a sample cavity. The housing comprises an immersion face and an opposing end face, a top face and a bottom face. The housing comprises a first opening in the immersion face, and a second opening in another face. The top face has at least one indentation, comprising a distribution segment, a ventilation segment and an analysis segment and wherein the analysis segment is bounded by the analysis plane AP. The distribution segment and the ventilation segment are arranged below the analysis segment in a direction from the top face to an opposite face of the housing and the maximum and the minimum cross-sectional area of the analysis segment perpendicular to a central longitudinal axis X of the housing do not deviate from each other by more than 20 %. The invention further relates to a sampler, comprising the sample chamber according to the invention and a carrier tube adapted to accommodate at least parts of the sample chamber.
