摘要： Different bands (C-band and L-band) are allotted respectively to an upstream optical signal and a downstream optical signal. In a transmission-path optical fiber for Raman amplification, the C-band optical signal is amplified by pumping light from a C-band pumping light source, and the L-band optical signal is amplified by pumping light from an L-band pumping light source. As a result of this configuration, the optical signals are Raman-amplified through backward pumping in both upstream and downstream directions, whereby negative effects, which could be exerted on the optical signals by forward pumping, can be avoided.

The signal reception device includes a front end including a delay interferometer and an opto-electric conversion element that receive the DQPSK optical signal and convert it into an in-phase signal and an orthogonal signal, a clock regenerator that regenerates a clock signal based on the in-phase signal and the orthogonal signal, a multiplexer that multiplexes the in-phase signal and the orthogonal signal, a reception frame processing unit that detects frame synchronization based on the signal multiplexed by the multiplexer and de-maps the received frames, and a controller that, based on out-of-frame-synchronization information (LOF/OOF) from the reception frame processing unit, performs logical inversion control in the clock regenerator, multiplexing timing control in the multiplexer, and controls the delay interferometer in the front end so as to transit to the object reception state.

摘要： The present invention provides a wavelength division multiplexing transmission system for separating wavelength division multiplexing signals, where signal lights with different bit rates are wavelength division multiplexed, according to the bit rate, and processing the separated signals individually. The wavelength division multiplexed signals, where a low-speed bit rate signal is disposed in an odd channel group and a high-speed bit rate signal is disposed in an even channel group, are demultiplexed into a low-speed signal group and a high-speed signal group by an unequal bandwidth interleaver. The low-speed signal group is processed (e.g. demultiplexing, dispersion compensation) by an optical device appropriate for the low-speed signals, and the high-speed signal group is processed by an optical device appropriate for the high-speed signals. By this, a relatively expensive and high function optical device can be applied only for the high-speed signal side, so an increase in the device cost can be kept down. Also a device with specifications appropriate for each signal can be used.
