摘要： A method of treating a polluted gas e.g., desulphurising a sulphur dioxide-containing flue gas is carried out by spraying the flue gas with a slurry of e.g. calcium hydroxide, under spray drying conditions. The spray device comprises a rotating spray cup 18 comprising an extended surface 74 on which a film of slurry is formed. On leaving the surface 74 the slurry is immediately impacted with a high velocity stream of air supplied through an annular orifice 22.
Arrangements for supplying the slurry to the rotating cup comprise a stationary distribution device 17a adapted to direct the slurry onto the surface 74 with a swirl component of motion.
In an alternative embodiment the stationary distribution device is adapted to accelerate the slurry prior to a distributor cup which then directs it onto the extended surface of the spray cup in a direction generally opposed to the general direction of the slurry sprayed into the gas.

摘要： A pitot tube (40) for a pitot type centrifugal pump has a passageway (42) comprising a circumferentially directed inlet (44) which is connected to an axially directed outlet (46) by a first transition portion (50), a radial portion (48), and a second transition portion (52). The tube is reinforced by a rib (54) which extends across the passageway and which has an airfoil cross-section (56) in the first transition portion of the passage. The rib (54) streamlines fluid flow and enables the walls of the tube to be reduced in thickness to decrease drag.
