    • A surgical saw comprising. The surgical saw comprises a housing (54) including a head (68, 68a) that extends from said housing for receiving a blade assembly (52, 702) having a blade bar (494, 494a) and two drive rods (74, 74a) moveably disposed within the blade bar and a blade head (76, 76a) that is configured to be oscillated by said two drive rods. The surgical saw further comprises two oscillating drive members (72, 72a, 72b) that extend outwardly from the housing head, each of said oscillating drive members are shaped to be connected to the corresponding drive rod so that the oscillation of the respective drive member results in the reciprocation of the corresponding drive rod. The surgical saw further comprises an oscillating drive assembly (240, 242, 418, 608, 616, 694) disposed in said housing that is configured to receive a rotational moment and convert the rotation moment to a motion that oscillates said oscillating drive members.Tthe oscillating drive members are mounted to said housing so as to engage in a first oscillating motion and in a second translation motion wherein, in the translational motion. The oscillating drive members move the blade assembly coupled thereto between a first position relative to the housing head and a second position relative to the housing head. The surgical saw further comprises at least one bracket (146, 148, 578) attached to the saw head. Said bracket positioned so that, when the oscillating drive member locates the blade assembly in the first position, the blade assembly is spaced from the bracket and, when the oscillating drive member locates the blade assembly in the second position, the blade assembly abuts the bracket.

    • A surgical saw blade (52, 5a, 52b, 702) is described. The surgical saw blade comprises an elongated blade bar (494, 494a, 494b) having opposed plates (502, 502a, 504, 504a). The blade bar has opposed proximal and distal sections. The proximal section has a feature (516, 538) for releasably holding the blade bar to a powered surgical saw (50). The distal section is formed with a void space and a primary opening into the void space, wherein the blade bar plates are spaced apart from each other so as to form the void space in the blade bar distal section. The surgical saw blade further comprises a blade head (76, 76a), the blade head having a base (496, 496a) disposed in the blade bar distal section opening that is pivotally mounted in the blade bar distal section, and a crown (498) integral with the base that extends through and outside of the blade bar distal section primary opening, the crown being formed with teeth (499, 499a), wherein the base and the crown both have a thickness and the thickness of the crown is greater than that of the base to allow the insertion of the blade bar into a kerf cut by the blade head. In addition, the surgical saw blade comprises two drive rods (74, 74a).
